Each and every notebook or desktop or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that communicates with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse or a printer, together with any apps that are currently installed on your system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the OS. On a server, any app runs within the parameters set by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software such as a media server. If a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, so you will be able to set up a different software environment on the very same machine.
Multiple OS in VPS Servers
If you select one of our VPS server solutions, you'll have as many as three different Operating Systems to select from - CentOS, Debian and Ubuntu. They're all Linux releases and we offer them rather than offering just a single OS, as the apps that you might want to run on the server may have specific requirements regarding the software environment. Each of the three has certain advantages in terms of the available packages that you can later on install, but what is common between them is that they're very stable and dependable and have vast communities that support them. The hosting Control Panel options for the VPS accounts depend on your OS choice, in order to give you more flexibility. In case you order the virtual server with one OS and you need a different one later, our technical support team can easily reinstall the VPS with the new one in just a few minutes. We also offer you the option to keep the Operating System on your server up-to-date weekly.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers
The dedicated server packages that we offer come with as many as three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license taxes, but they are also regarded as the most reliable and secure OSs. We supply three different ones as each one of them is supported by a separate community. The packages which you could add on your web server are different and this may matter in case you want to install some piece of software with particular requirements about the hosting environment. In this light, the web hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the OS that you will choose. You can pick any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order process, however if needed, we can always set up the server anew with a different one upon your request. As an optional service that you may add to the plan whenever you want, we can update your OS regularly to keep it as secure as possible.
